Okay, so, first off, I haven't written a blog post in a while about anything and here I am again, but I'm quite off topic. BUT, the reason for the post has everything to do with writing, speculation, and where you might go with the story line, etc.
That said, here is my take on what happened last night on #TWD.
Dead or Alive? |
Secondly, and this is completely from the dark side of my brain, and what I would do if I was writing this show, is really mind-eff the audience.
If I were writing The Walking Dead, I might do something along the lines of...Glenn is alive, but when someone goes back to the area, they find his pocket watch, and some other belongings that are unmistakably his.
They bring the materials back to the camp, while glenn is either lost (he repeatedly asked Nicholas 'which way?!' last night) OR he is taken by the Wolves (who may or may not be working with ENID, yes, yet another theory) and cannot find his way back so the group believes he is dead.
Maggie, in turn, takes her own life before Glenn finally escapes/returns, only to find this happened and...well....its The Walking Dead, so you can guess the rest.
Now, what would you do or what do you think will happen next? PLEASE DISCUSS!

A little too "Romeo & Juliette" for my tastes, but I don't think he's dead...yet.
ReplyDeleteMe either, Brian. But, how crazy would that be, eh?
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely an interesting consideration. I mean on one side, I wouldn't think the writers would give in to a cliche. Then again, if the cliche fits the narrative, is it really off limits? Maggie has lost her entire family and Glenn is all she has left. The flip side to that is she may want to honor his strength in their child. It would be a matter of which aspect of her character wins out.
DeleteAs for his fate, I had to go back and watch again. It's really difficult to tell from the way it was shot if they were tearing into him as well or just Nicholas. If it was just Nicholas, he could take refuge under the dumpster until the horde eventually gets drawn away. Would he die of dehydration before that happens?
The blood camo could buy him some time in the form of the zombies losing interest in him.
What I really hope is next week is not titled "90 Minutes of Morgan".

I was so hoping the insides and blood we say over Glenn was from the weak man he didn't want with him on the mission. That was my hidden hopes, that died as quick as I saw what was happening. Even if it was the man on top of him, he couldn't get out of that hoard blocked by a fence with zombies on both sides. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteOr can he? He is under the dumpster covered in gore, so the walkers will wander off. This is my initial guess. Who knows, though? Thanks for commenting, Melissa, and have a good one!
ReplyDeleteYou know, funny you should mention the covered in gore thing. I wondered, once again as I have done for show after show, why they don't use that trick again. That is such an awesome thing that could help save them! And no one uses it, or Michonne's trick either.
DeleteYes, there are some flaws in the writing where that stuff is concerned, but I don't wanna dive into that. It seems to show up whenever its convenient or necessary as a Deus Ex Machina type thing, lol. But, yeah, your point is valid.
ReplyDeleteI'm stuck on the blood camo idea. It's living blood that's on him not zombie blood. So wouldn't that draw the zombies to him? And while he's hidden under the dumpster he could stab them in the head, if he still has his knife. Which would provide the zombie stench that would cover him until they leave. ;)
ReplyDeleteMaybe the vehicles will come by and draw the remaining zombies with their noise, freeing Glenn...
Now, did I miss something? I saw Brian mention a child. Was something said that I missed? I know there was talk of how the characters could follow the outline of the comic, and a child in Glenn & Maggie's future. So could that be?
This could be their favorite couple to mess with our heads with. They've already been separated once... lol.
I don't think there was mention of a child on the show. But, yes, I think that something will come along and distract the horde from Glenn, who will kill a few zombies and pull them on top of him. Again, this is all speculation, but I can see that happening and buying it.
ReplyDeleteOh good. Glad I didn't miss something with a 'child' in the works. lol. I did hear that was something that people speculated on as in the comic though.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. I enjoy the speculation though. :) And I have a terrible feeling we are going to have to wait a few weeks for the results of Glenn...
