Hard Copy or Ebook?

As I sit here with Nick Titano of Infernal Titans @ DEXCON in Morristown, NJ, I can't help but think: Is it worth doing print at all anymore?

I have met several nice folk and each of them has asked me if my books were on kindle. I of course answered yes. At this point, they each informed me that they would purchase my works there. Odd? Does this happen to authors more often than not? I am just curious because as I love to feel the paper and weight of a book in my hand, I know that kindle/eBooks rule. I cannot print a book and sell it for anywhere near what I can see an eBook for.

I am thinking that the appeal would be to receive an autograph, but there are programs out there where you can sign eBooks now! Amazing, right? Or is it?

So, with that in mind, do you readers/writers out there prefer to read with your eBooks? And if so, can you tell me why?

All the best and I hope to see anyone in the North Jersey area @DEXCON today and tomorrow. Sadly, I will be missing Saturday as I must work my day job, but I will hopefully be returning on Sunday!

Please join me and the other amazingly talented authors over @ Skulldust Circle where we have formed a Writer's Circle that must be seen--a collection of brilliant, up & coming independently published speculative fiction authors with much to give both now and in the future!

All of my work can be found on AMAZON -- Kindle versions here

See you in Wothlondia! Cheers!

  1. I don't like the ebook autograph- seems pointless, just something on a screen. However, it depends. If the ebooks of a book are 10 dollars, and the print is 11- I'm gonna buy the print. However tons of books I wanna read are only 2-3 dollars, so I buy them for my nook, and they take up much less shelf space. (Which I have none of.) However if it's an author I like, or a series- I usually buy them in print. If I'm not sure, or it's only one novel I may not buy again I buy it all on ebook. (Minus the hunger games, which I bought when they were first released and just completed the set on book). However I think it's worth print because there are tons of people out there who arent readers, and when they do read they dont want to go buy a whole device for a couple books. It's easier to go to the bookstore and pick a couple things they can give away later or something. I like ebooks when I travel- because I can carry so many! If I finish one, I have like fifty others available in my hand. 8)

  2. Thanks for the comment, Neriah! And I do agree that eBook autograph's are odd at best and seem extremely impersonal. Every time I go to a convention, I am meeting people that refuse to get an eBook reader and simply enjoy holding a real book in their hands. While I agree with personally, I do also own a kindle and its benefits outweigh the negatives. So as an author, I either have to get on board or be lost forever in the age of print. Thanks for the discussion!
